FILLING:

1 c condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla
8 egg yolks
2 tbsps butter

Combine eggyolks and condensed milk. Cook on top of a double boiler. Continue cooking until thick or of spreading consistency. Add the butter and vanilla. Blend well. Set aside.

MERINGUE

8 egg whites
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Beat eggwhites and cream of tartar until it stands in peaks. Add the 1 cup of sugar gradually, beating continuously. Flavor with vanilla. Spread meringue onto a heavily-oiled brown paper-lined cookie sheet or force meringue through a cake decorator or cookie tube. Bake at 400 deg F until brown. Loosen paper lining. While hot, spread the above filling. Roll as for jelly roll. Serve chilled.
